FEBRUARY
Greetings to All the Saints in Christ Jesus! Grace and Peace to you.
The Apostle Paul had a way with words, used plenty of them and certainly attempted to convey his joyful faith in the Lord.
We are well into the new year by now, though maybe not out of the house as often and readily as we might like, but after all, it is February in Ohio. Annual church reports are completed and turned-in to Conference; the Mosquito Lake Polar Plunge has come and gone and I missed it again; the Super Bowl has been but wasn’t (the subs were still good); Phil (I’m not referring to Robertson) has seen his shadow; the Olympics are on but not the theme for another sermon series; daylight is growing longer; and like Jesus at the age of twelve, we must also be about our Father’s business.
Those annual statistical reports tell a story of our church activity, ministry, priority and vitality. In some respects, that story is quite remarkable. We have quite a participation and commitment among active membership in small groups for study, fellowship and faith development, hands-on missions and ministries, and application of the membership pledge to support God’s church (Christ’s Body) with “our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.” Give thanks to God for His Light shining through us.

Those pesky stats also remind us we’re not getting any younger. That in itself, individually, isn’t front-page news; it’s a fact of life. Even so, there is real joy and vitality around here after school on Wednesdays. For a little while, those of us who are well-aware we’re not getting younger, at least are feeling younger in the presence and interaction of a small but energetic group of young students.

We’re exercising, snacking, crafting, learning by acting-out stories in the Bible, praying and making friends with one another. God is Good in these times.

We need more of them. More of God’s Good; more friends; more activity. These are signs of a faith family that is alive with vitality. I would hope you agree with me that our families, friends, community and world are in need of God’s Good we have discovered for ourselves.

We need to be about our Father’s business and Jesus’ Commission to his disciples in Mathew 28:18-20. Let’s share this Good News we have discovered. Let’s tell people we care about what our faith means to us and what God’s Good can mean to them. Let’s encourage them to come with us to our small group gatherings, to worship, to activities for fun and mission. One thing is certain, if we don’t pass on this Good News of genuine Life and Hope in this world, the blessing will stop with us, in our pockets, and a world of people we know personally will lose out. “If not me, then who? If not now, then when?”

LIL’ LAMBS
Believe it or not spring is on its way and the Lil’ Lambs Committee is getting ready for the sale
May 7-9. Please pass the word to everyone you know who has children or grandchildren that this
is a great way to sell and/or purchase like-new clothing, baby items, and toys at very reasonable
prices. It’s not too early to think about being a part of our sale.
Our biggest challenge is to get good advertising. If anyone can help us with some new ideas, please
see one of the committee members. We really need people to get on their Facebook and other
media accounts to promote the sale. We send flyers to churches and daycare centers, but maybe you
know other groups that would be interested. Feel free to suggest places for us to send flyers.
Think Spring! Think Lil’ Lambs! Help in any way you
can. Thank you.
