WORSHIP PLANNING TEAM Revival of the Worship Planning Team met on Monday, January 25, 2016 with several enthusiastic, spirit filled members, to see God’s church in Cortland, on High Street, reach out to develop increased attendance, youth and children’s ministry and disciples for Christ. Wish you were all there to see their excitement and willingness to move God’s church forward. Review of needed organizational tasks was developed with much willingness to do God’s work. If we are to see God’s church move forward YOU are needed. God appreciates each one of you for placing worship in His church top on your list every Sunday. We challenge YOU to be HIS AMBSSADOR – REACH OUT TO OTHERS. Review the Church Directory – call someone you have missed. Tell them so. Arrange to pick them up – Visit a shut-in with Sunday bulletin, daily devotional booklet and copy of our activities and program available. Lent begins on Wednesday, February 7th. Excellent time to reach out; explore the meaning and importance of Christ’s death for each of us, as we explore our personal review of our own life. Receive a copy of our Lenten devotional booklet. Consider attending the Pastor’s Lenten study on Sunday evenings. Start your Lenten Season on Wednesday, February 10th with a friend to the “Blessing of the Ashes”. Two services will be available to you – Informal session from 11:30 am to 1 pm and a formal service at 7 pm with communion and choir music. During the busy season don’t forget the Community Pantry “Red Bag Sundays” first Sunday Communion and Sub Sunday on February 7th. We have set Sunday, February 13 as “Love Sunday.” As winter progresses we are concerned about the heat in the church. Both Worship and Ad Council voted to hold Sunday services in the Fellowship Hall if weather is zero “0” or below or if elevator is not working. Worship planning team does need your help. Please explore amongst your family, friends and group ways to insure our outreach to fulfill “Our mission to God.” Please offer suggestions – Be outrageous, mode mister, and traditional. Fill our Sanctuary, increase of youth and children programs; explore ways to reach the unchurched and community needs. - REMEMBER this is Your Church and God’s church. He wants You to be His Disciple and reach out to others. - - God Bless You All for Your Help. Shirley, DiVencenzo, Worship Planning Team Chairperson

FINANCIAL NEWS For the month of January, we have receive $8,505.00 in tithes and offerings, $852.00 in shared ministry donations and $2,988.26 in prepaid donations for the entire year. $13,728.54 was incurred in normal operating expenses and $971.57 for elevator repairs not covered by the maintenance agreement. As you can see there was a significant shortfall. The Finance Committee in conjunction with the Administrative Council has decided to use Reserve funds that have been held in savings to cover any shortfalls incurred for the time being. However, unless there is an increase in income, eventually adjustments will need to be made.
